Getting Started
Sign up for Velnoro, create your team, and run your first scan to discover your Power Platform assets.
Get up and running with Velnoro in under 15 minutes. This guide walks you through creating your account, setting up your team, connecting your platform, and running your first scan.
Prerequisites
- A Velnoro account (sign up at app.velnoro.com)
- Appropriate admin access for the platforms you want to connect. See the Permissions Reference for a full breakdown of what access is needed for each platform.
Step 1: Create Your Account
- Go to app.velnoro.com/auth/sign-up
- Sign up with your email address, or use Google or Microsoft sign-in
- Confirm your email if prompted
You now have a personal Velnoro account. Next, you'll create a team where your organization's data lives.
Step 2: Create a Team
After signing in for the first time, you'll be prompted to create a team account.
- Enter your organization name (this appears in the sidebar and across the app)
- Click Create Team
Your team starts with a 30-day free trial that gives full access to every feature. A teal "Trial" indicator in the top bar shows how many days remain.
Step 3: Invite Your Colleagues
Bring in the admins and analysts who'll use Velnoro with you.
- Navigate to Members in the Admin section of the sidebar
- Click Invite Members
- Enter email addresses and assign roles:
- Owner - full access including team deletion
- Admin - manage connections, scans, people, and settings
- Member - view dashboards and insights (read-only)
- Click Send Invitations
Invitees receive an email with a link to join your team.
Step 4: Import Your Organization Directory (Optional)
Upload a CSV of your employees to enable department-level analysis and builder identification.
- Navigate to People Directory in the Admin section
- Download the CSV template (headers: email, displayName, jobTitle, department, team, managerName)
- Fill in your employee data and upload the file
- Review the preview and click Import
This step is optional but recommended. It enables the Departments tab on Capability Insights and lets you assign Maker Tiers (Explorer, Builder, Champion) to your citizen developers.
Step 5: Add a Connection
Connect Velnoro to your Microsoft Power Platform tenant.
- Navigate to Connections in the Admin section
- Click Add Connection
- Choose your platform and follow the setup wizard

Step 6: Run Your First Scan
Once your connection is set up:
- Navigate to Connections in the Admin section
- Click Run Scan on your connection card
- The scan runs in the background (typically 1-3 minutes)
- When complete, your dashboard populates with the discovered assets

Step 7: Classify Your Environments
After your first scan discovers environments, classify them so Velnoro can apply the right governance rules.
- Navigate to Environments in the Admin section
- Review the auto-suggested classifications (Production, Development, Sandbox, etc.)
- Confirm or adjust each classification
Environment classification feeds into risk tier calculations and governance coverage scoring.

After your first scan completes, explore these areas:
- Dashboard - see your asset inventory, builder activity, and health scores
- Governance - set connector policies and track compliance
- Documents - share templates and documents with your team
- My Board - link your identity to see your personal portfolio
Onboarding Checklist
Velnoro includes a setup guide that tracks your progress through seven onboarding steps:
- Create your team (auto-completed)
- Invite your team
- Import organization directory
- Add a connection
- Authorize Power Platform access
- Run your first scan
- Classify your environments
The checklist appears as a compact widget in the sidebar, visible across all pages. Click it to open the full step list with contextual help links. Steps auto-complete as you perform them (for example, adding a connection checks off step 4 automatically).
You can dismiss the widget when you're ready, and reopen it anytime from the Help menu ("Setup Guide").
Troubleshooting

| Can't create a team | Already a member of a team | Switch to your existing team, or create a new team from a different account |
| Invitation email not received | Email in spam/junk folder | Check spam folder. If not found, revoke and resend the invitation. |
| "0 environments found" after connecting | Admin lacks Power Platform Administrator role | The admin who authorizes must have the Power Platform Administrator role |
| Dashboard still empty after scan | Browser cache | Refresh the page. The dashboard loads from the latest completed scan. |
FAQ
Q: How long does the free trial last? 30 days with full access to every feature. After that, your account drops to the Discovery (free) tier. You can upgrade to Business ($99/month) at any time.
Q: Can I add multiple connections? Yes. Add one connection per Microsoft tenant. Each connection is scanned independently.
Q: What data does Velnoro collect? Asset metadata only: names, types, owners, environments, creation dates, and status. Velnoro never reads flow definitions, app source code, business data, or chat content. See the Security guide for details.
